TruDI FAQs

What is TruDI?
TruDI is TruRating's conversational AI agent. Ask a question in plain language, and get an answer drawn from your TruRating data - store-level insight, trends, and comparisons - without needing to build a report or interpret a dashboard yourself.

Where can I find TruDI?
If you have been granted access to TruDI, you'll find it directly within TruHub - via either the dedicated "Ask TruDI" button in the product header or via the floating widget in the bottom-right of the TruHub interface.

How can TruDI be used by different teams?
A few ways different teams use it:

  1. Store Managers - Ask how your store's performance on a specific behavior compares to last month.
  2. District Managers - Ask which stores in your district need attention this week, or how a behavior has trended across your district or region.
  3. CX and Operations Program teams - Ask cross-region or cross-channel questions to spot where a systemic issue is emerging, before it turns up in a scheduled report.

How should I phrase questions to TruDI?
Ask the way you'd ask a colleague - plain language, specific to what you want to know ("which stores improved on greeting last month?" rather than "show me data"). The more specific the question, the more useful the answer.

How should district and central teams use TruDI differently from store-level use?
Store managers will mostly ask about their own outlet. District and central teams get more value from comparative questions - across stores, regions, or time periods - since that's where TruDI's ability to surface patterns across many outlets at once pays off most.

Can TruDI help me build something I can share or report with?
Yes, you can ask TruDI to generate a chart or a downloadable data file from your query, which is useful if you want to drop a result straight into a deck or send it to someone else without rebuilding it yourself.

Can I come back to a conversation later?
Yes, chats are saved and threaded, so you can pick up a multi-step analysis where you left off rather than starting over each time.

What data can TruDI answer questions about?
TruDI answers using TruRating data: ratings, trends, and store-level performance information for the outlets you already have permission to view in TruHub. It doesn't expand your access beyond that, and it can't see data belonging to other TruRating customers or retail groups.

Does TruDI have access to POS or transaction-level data?
At the present time, TruDI answers questions about TruRating responses, associated transaction values, and meta information about your stores - such as outlet tags. POS data, for users who have this available as part of their implementation, is on the TruDI roadmap for a future release.

Can TruDI explain why something happened?
TruDI can surface patterns and trends in the data, but it doesn't have first-hand knowledge of store-level context - a renovation, a staffing change, a local event - that might explain a shift in performance. Use it to identify where to look, then bring in what you know about your location or team to explain why.

Can TruDI get things wrong? What should I do if a result looks off?
Yes. Like any AI tool, TruDI can misinterpret a question you ask, particularly when translating natural language into a specific data query. If a result seems surprising or you plan to act on it, ask TruDI to walk through how it got there before relying on it. It's worth checking the interpretation matches what you actually meant - especially for ambiguous questions or ones you're about to rely on for a decision.

If the response is incorrect or there's an issue with part of it (e.g. if a chart is hard to read), we encourage you to hit the "thumbs down" icon directly below the response and tell us about the issue in more detail. This helps TruDI learn.

Can I use TruDI to make performance decisions about employees?
Several states and countries have introduced regulation preventing the use of AI for making employment or performance evaluation decisions without human intervention and judgement. Using TruDI for these purposes may subject you and/or your organization to legal exposure and is not allowed. Today, TruDI does not have access to data that would identify a specific employee.

Can I use TruDI to make changes in TruRating, like updating targets or settings?
No. TruDI is designed to answer questions about your data, not take actions on your behalf. Changes to targets, permissions, or configuration are still made directly in TruHub.

Can I use TruDI for real-time alerting?
No. At the present time, TruDI is a conversational tool you ask questions of, not a monitoring system that pushes notifications the moment something happens.

Can I use TruDI to see data from other retail groups or TruRating customers?
No. TruDI only answers using data from your own organization, scoped to what you already have permission to see.
